The 2008 display featured a handmade animatronic singing "Frosty the Snowman." This was the first year animatronics were introduced into the display and the changeover to LED lighting, starting with the Z-Tree. It was all synced to an original video program with music, and emceed by "DJ Jingles" on the video screen.

The building and programming of the display began in early Summer and continued through the installation Thanksgiving week.

Fritz Coleman of Channel 4 KNBC, reported live from the display for his "Fritz's Holiday Lights" segment. The display was also featured on his "Best of Fritz's Holiday Lights" special, which ran on Christmas Day.
